Respiratory Arrest
The 2005 ECC/ILCOR guidelines have eliminated Rescue breathing skills for layrescuers. We have included Rescue breathing
as an optional skill. Rescue breathing skills are not on the test nor are they included on your certification card.
Cardiac Arrest
The 2005 ECC/ILCOR guidelines have eliminated pulse checks for layrescuers. The pulse check described in the following CPR
videos is an optional skill. Any time a pulse check is mentioned, layrescuers would simply look for signs of life (responsiveness,
breathing, or movement).
